Lost in the Jungles of the Riviera Maya

By Kristin Hahn

Lost in the jungle, what a way to spend a Sunday!

Every Sunday we try to find a new cenote to enjoy or a secret beach to explore. And this Sunday was no different.

Four of us piled into our car with snacks and beer in the cooler, and we headed out into the great blue yonder. A friend had told us of the “road with 30 cenotes” that was just outside of Playa del Carmen about 30 minutes or so. So that was our destination, to cenote hop all Sunday afternoon, what a way to spend the day huh?

Bacalar, a true natural wonder

lake bacalar laguna quintana roo

by Kristin Hahn

Although we all agree that we live in paradise, it is always a good thing when we are able to get away from our daily schedules and commitments and have an adventure!
Enter Bacalar, the most beautiful place I have ever seen! Just a hop, skip, and a jump from Playa del Carmen, (about a 3 hour drive directly south) lays Lake Bacalar, a true natural wonder. Fed by a series of cenotes and underground currents, this long (50 km), fresh water lake has the most incredible colors you have ever seen.........

How were they formed? .........How are they explored?

What can be found in the hidden depths of a Cenote? ...........What treasures can be found?

Is pollution affecting them? ......... The answers are very interesting ............
