Il Mangiare on 5th Avenue
A great new addition to the Northern part of 5th Avenue! Looking for a nice café to enjoy a delicious sandwich or coffee? Playa del Carmen has been lacking a specialty delicatessen, and we now have a place to go! Il Mangiare is a new delicatessen that just opened last week. It offers a variety of baguette sandwiches, bagels, salads, coffees, and hard to find specialty items, such as pickles, pastas, sauces, and more. Right across from Café Corazon and neighboring Puro Bueno (you know, the “red” bar with the infused vodkas), Il Mangiare is a great new addition to the exploding growth just north of Constituyentes on 5th Avenue......

A Taco Gone Wild!
Well I just ate the best Taco Al Pastor with Pinneapple and Pumpkin Seed Salsa I've ever had. Check this out! Oh My! By J.P. the Food Guy So I take a bite of this sizzling sumptodelicious Pumpkin Seed Salsa smothered Taco Al-Pastor and the only words I could say were “Um-Um, Soooo Gooood! – more please.”. And that is exactly how it is at Los 3 Carboncitos, the most outstanding taco shop here in the Riviera Maya – well of course, that’s just my opinion. And judging by the rest of the patrons who were enjoying their meals, I would say I have lots of amigos who feel the same. You see Hector Martinez came from Mexico City to Playa del Carmen last year and opened up Los 3 Carboncitos as a matter of a long term passion with food that he’s had since a young boy in Mexico City.

Calle 4 - The Last Frontier
By: Brenda Long Alfaro
Will the renovation of Playa’s streets ever end? Yes, the end is near and none to soon for the Historic District of Playa, nestled between the ferry dock to Cozumel and Calle 8, where local Mayan shopkeepers are mixed among Playa’s massive silver shops, nightclubs and famous restaurants. For those not in the know, this massive remodeling of the tourist zones streets and walkways began more than two years ago in the area now known as Little Italy, north of Constituyentes between 10th Avenue and the beach. It has inched its way down, all too slowly, finally reaching the final two streets, Calle 4 and Calle 2. Inspired by the burying of Playa wires and bone brick paving of the streets, the historic zone businesses are getting into the swing as well. Calle 4 is under a hot revitalization project and is ready for the high season. What’s new there? .............
