Bar Ranita Celebrates Five Years in Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen was out in full force last night to celebrate Bar Ranitas fifth birthday.

The crowd spilled into the street Saturday night to toast Ranitas fifth year. The great locals that patron Bar Ranita, the Corona girls, DJ playing his Ranita classic collection all added up to a great celebration. With a new general manager and other changes, Bar Ranita is set for another five years.

Jez Searle, the new general manager (yes that is the infamous Jez of Fat Cat) is making changes in the bar to make it an even better place to meet with friends, watch sports, or just hang out. Over the past couple of weeks new televisions and a stand up bar have been added, the lounging couch re-done and the bar refinished. Future plans include potentially moving the kitchen to allow a more spacious seating area and allowing a covered space to sit on the rare occasion of rain.

During the World Cup, locals can call ahead (984-873-0389) to reserve a table for the game or reserve the back palapa if you prefer. Additionally, Babes, Java Joes and other nearby restaurants will provide food upon request. Limited edition Bar Ranita World Cup shirts are also now available for $15 USD.
