Just days after Hurricane Wilma, the Blue Parrot Hotel & Beach Club, Blue Parrot Suites, Blue Parrot 5th Avenue and the Playasia restaurant re-open for business at 75% percent capacity!
Press Release - October 27, 2005, Denver, Colorado. … The Blue Parrot Hotel group is excited to announce that just four days after Hurricane Wilma rained down on the Riviera Maya, they are open for business at 75 percent capacity. All electrical and water services have been fully restored, and the hotels are fully staffed! The three boutique hotels in the Blue Parrot collection, situated along the beautiful Playa del Carmen beachfront, include The Blue Parrot Hotel, Blue Parrot Suites and its newest property, Blue Parrot on 5th Avenue and Playasia Restaurant. Spared much of the devastation and havoc wreaked on other nearby communities, guests to Playa del Carmen are enjoying the beautiful, sun-drenched beaches, hotels, restaurants and ambience of this resort community. “We’d like to thank everyone for their support and offers of assistance in the aftermath of Hurricane Wilma,” said owner Tom Doody. “Reports by the media that Playa del Carmen was destroyed were highly exaggerated. Today, the sun is shining, and a heavenly breeze is blowing off the sea. The beaches are busy and almost all of Playa’s 5th Avenue shops and restaurants have reopened to business as usual. Yes, cleanup is still underway, but the people of Mexico are resilient, and our tourist district will be back to normal in no time.”
